Our Team

 Mr Bruno Lorenzi – Our Surgeon

Mr Lorenzi is the Director and Founder of Essex Surgical Specialists.

 

He qualified with honours at the University of Siena, in Italy (the eighth oldest university in the world, founded in 1240). He has gained wide experience in general, laparoscopic and upper GI Surgery in renowned centres in the USA (Cleveland Clinic in Florida), France (Istitut Paoli-Calmettes in Marseille) and UK (Oxford, Leeds, Royal Marsden and Imperial College in London) before moving to Chelmsford in 2014.

Dr David O'Hara – Our Anaesthetist

Dr David O’Hara has been a Consultant in Anaesthesia at Broomfield Hospital since 2010. He qualified from University College London Medical School and completed specialist training in Anaesthesia at Barts and The London hospitals.

Dr Niven Akotia – Our Anaesthetist

Dr Niven Akotia qualified from St George’s Medical School, University of London in 2002. He began his specialist training in Anaesthesia with the South Coast School of Anaesthesia.

Dr Aimen Hassani (Al-Hassani) – Our Anaesthetist

Dr Hassani was appointed as a Consultant Anaesthetist at Broomfield Hospital in May 1996. Over the years he led in many aspects of training, education, research and clinical governance.

Mrs Samantha Thornton – Our Business Manager

Sam Thornton is our Business Manager. She has over 25 years of experience working with medical specialists.  She completed a full time college course and acquired a Medical Secretarial Diploma (AMSPAR – Association of Medical Secretaries, Practice Administrators and Receptionists) in 1987.
