Dr David O'Hara
Dr David O’Hara has been a Consultant in Anaesthesia at Broomfield Hospital since 2010. He qualified from University College London Medical School and completed specialist training in Anaesthesia at Barts and The London hospitals.
Dr O’Hara undertook advanced fellowships at the world-famous St Andrew’s Plastic Centre in Chelmsford and at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. He also worked for New Zealand’s Air Ambulance service.
His specialist interests include anaesthesia for laparoscopic ‘keyhole‘ surgery, upper GI surgery and plastic surgery. He has particular expertise in pre-operative assessment of surgical patients including cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) and lectures nationally and internationally on this subject.
On a personal level, David enjoys cooking, scuba diving, and teaching.

We accept referrals for self-pay and insured patients covered by BUPA, AXA PPP, Aviva, Vitality, CIGNA, WPA, Healix and CS Healthcare. For self-pay patients, we offer fixed fees with no hidden extras.

Bruno, our surgeon, and David, our anaesthetist, will give you an honest opinion regarding your suitability for surgery, putting your wellbeing and safety first. They will help you in choosing the most appropriate type of procedure and anaesthetic for your surgery and prepare you for your operation.
Bruno and David have been working together to develop specific surgical and anaesthetic techniques to make sure you are comfortable and ready to go back home just few hours after surgery.
Niven and Aimen, both anaesthetists, are also part of the team, and they may be looking after you on the day of your procedure.
Over 90% of our patients undergoing hernia or gallstones surgery go home safely and happily on the day of the procedure.
Sam, our Business Manager, will be your first point of contact. She will organise and arrange your hospital stay, supply you with the relevant codes (if you are privately insured) and liaise with you around admission and outpatient times.
